SmackDown Redux (September 6th, 2013): AJ Finds Some Friends

I promise you that I’m not here covering SmackDown this week because Steven has been kidnapped, bound, gagged, and is currently being tortured. I promise you a gang of tiny little evil pixies are currently breaking every single one of his toes and fingers as I’m typing this. I swear on absolutely everything that matters to me that those evil pixies are stabbing a thousand little needle-like knives into Steven’s arms and legs, just to hear him scream and beg for mercy. I definetly promise you that Steven isn’t enduring all of this torture while he is surrounded by a deadly ring of fire that keeps closing in on him…

No, our wonderful Steven is en route to a Fall Out Boy concert and if you want my opinion, the torture and scene I described above and the noises that come Fall Out Boy are one in the same. Just my opinion… OBVIOUSLY!!!

Whereas I disagree with the life choices that our dear Steven makes, I’m happy to cover for him this week because our Total Divas versus AJ Lee storyline got a lot more interesting!

Meanwhile, in the ring, Naomi, who had Cameron at ringside with her, took on Brie Bella, who had Nikki with her.

The match itself was pretty decent. It totally flowed so much better than the one on Raw. Brie took control early, dominating Naomi. The momentum swung to Naomi, who took it to Brie. They have really good chemistry together. It makes me want to see a longer singles match between them in the future, to be honest. Brie continues to step it up and I love that Naomi is getting more matches so she can shine. At this point, it’s a toss up to me as to who will walk away with the championship at Night of Champions, but whoever does has a multitude of possibly opponents now, and we haven’t had this type of action in a long, long time.

When the match spilled to the outside, I was shocked to see Aksana, Layla and Alicia Fox rush to ringside with AJ. Of course, I did read the spoilers and expected to see it, but you know what I mean. We’ve all kind of questioned where the other Divas stand with this, and I guess now we know. I know Survivor Series is two months away, but what I would give to see a traditional Survivor Series style match between Team Total Divas and Team Anti-Divas (sorry Paige).

I hope we get a lot more of this on Raw, and on SmackDown next week. Say what you want, but Total Divas is the best thing to happen to the division in a long, long time. When was the last time so many people were talking about all the girls? It seems like everyone has a purpose right now, and it’s such a broad angle that everyone can be involved. I’m pretty curious to see when/if Kaitlyn is going to get involved. Amd if she does end up getting involved in this, where is she going to stand? She has a long, long history with AJ but I find it hard to believe that she would be backing her on anything this soon . But at the same time, what have the Total Divas ever done for Kaitlyn?

I love it.

There’s a lot of questions right now and not a lot of answers. I’m not even sure they’ll use Kaitlyn in this, I’m just throwing out possible scenarios. It’s so nice to be able to speculate, discuss, debate, and wonder. The Divas have worked so hard for opportunities like these. I’m so, so proud to be a fan right now and things are only going to get better.

And before we wrap things up today, let me just give a little shout out to Alicia Fox! Girl got called out by Triple H for absolutely no reason. Can’t say I blame her for not wanting to get involved!!! That will do it for today. Steven will be back next week, and I’ll be coming back at you with total Divas and Raw. Until then… Cryssi out!
