Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks are scheduled to clash for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in one of SummerSlam’s marquee matches.
However, according to reports, the match is may not take place at the ‘biggest party of the summer.’
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that “several sources inside the company who expressed concern” that the WrestleMania rematch “will not take place at Summerslam this weekend.” The report also states that there “is nothing confirmed in that regard.”
Belair and Banks missed two WWE Live events this weekend. Firstly, they missed Saturday’s Supershow in North Carolina due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The following day they were absent from the show in South Carolina. WWE are yet to provide a reason for their respective absences.
On the most recent edition of SmackDown, the ‘Boss’ took their rivalry to the next level. During the contract signing for their championship match Banks flanked by Carmella and Zelina Vega beat down and humiliated the ‘EST of WWE.’
The following day on Talking Smack Belair had a stark warning for her SummerSlam opponent. The champion stated she might just retire Banks at the event.
