Welcome back to another edition of Monday Night Raw! It wasn’t an active night for the women until the 3rd hour of the show when we got back to back action. I was pulling for Trish Stratus to make an appearance tonight as well but maybe they’re saving that for Smackdown this Friday. Anyways, let’s dive in!
Liv Morgan approaches Dirty Dom backstage while he’s complaining to Adam Pearce about their mixed tag team match later on tonight. Dom relents after some easy persuasion by Liv, not exactly easy to break are you Dom Dom?
Abby the Witch (Nikki Cross) appeared once again, this time during the Chad Gable and Jey Uso match. She presented another box to the announce team.
Backstage vignette with Damage Control saying how they’ve lost all control and tonight they start new, tonight is the beginning of a chance in the tag division. Spoiler, they sure were right about that.
Damage CTRL vs. Kayden, Katana & Lyra
Frenzied action to start the match with Carter and Sane starting out. Lyra tags and we see a cool triple team move that included Chance’s running knee and a dropkick for a near fall. A trio dropkicks from the babyface team to Damage CTRL before hitting commercial.
Returning from the break, the two broken MITB participants are exchanging blows. Chaos ensusd as all six women entered the ring, culminating in simultaneous superplexes by the babyfaces. Finish comes when Dakota stomps on Carter, allowing Sky to hit the Over The Moonsault for the pin.
Winner: Damage CTRL
Post Match, Zoey & Shayna alongside Sonya Deville attack Damage CTRL, with Stark telling SKY mid beatdown that she cost her everything! This is a heel on heel beatdown so it’s more about the element of surprise here but really excited for this addition to the tag division.
Backstage, Zoey Stark, Shayna Baszler, and Sonya Deville were interviewed. Deville issued a warning to the women’s division, declaring their presence and asserting that no one could stop them. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn then approached, holding the Women’s Tag Team Titles, and proclaimed that the division belonged to them as long as they held the championships.
Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio vs. Zelina Vega & Rey Mysterio
Main event time! The match here was pretty good, it didn’t get to Zelina/Liv levels last week but the story focus was on the dramatic ending of the match with Morgan helping Dom defeat his actual daddy along the way. Props to Liv too bc she put in the work to make sure that happened for Dirty D, who looked mightly conflicted after his win.
Winners: Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio
After the match, Morgan jumped into Dominik’s arms, showing interest, but Rhea Ripley returned, causing Morgan to flee into the crowd in fear. Ripley then glared at Dominik, who attempted a hug, but the show cut off before revealing the outcome, leaving viewers in suspense.
Authors Note:
Personally I felt like they could’ve waited a little bit longer for Rhea to return but I’m also not upset about the pacing of the story moving at this speed. It’s definitely a cliff hanger for next week, it was just weird seeing Rhea Ripley return just to chase off Liv and glare down Dom. The lack of physicality is making me wonder if she’s been completely cleared yet. Time will tell! Really happy for Sonya, Shayna & Zoey! They definitely need a stable name. No Natalya again, the lack of news on her contract status has me a little bit worried. No Kiana either whom I was hoping would at least get some kind of story at this point. Either way, not a bad Raw by any means. Sound off in the comments below!
