Sonya Deville continues in the ring but this time she isn’t facing Naomi any longer, it will be just Ronda Rousey.
On this week’s SmackDown, Rousey started the show off in the ring with a mic in hand and Michael Cole interviewing her. Rousey spoke about her time away from WWE and why she decided to return to the company at the Royal Rumble. She says that she wants to set the same example for her daughter that her mother set for her. Cole goes over Rousey’s accomplishments both inside and outside of WWE.
Rousey teamed with Naomi at Elimination Chamber one week ago and the duo defeated Sonya Deville and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Cole pointed out that Rousey did win the match for her team and may have fared well with Sonya but not so much with Charlotte.
Flair’s music hits as she comes out to taunt Rousey. She says she went easy on her at Elimination Chamber and she intends to put her in the Figure Eight at WrestleMania and remain SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Sonya Deville attacks Rousey from behind followed by Flair using the ring post to target the knee of her WrestleMania opponent. Deville trash-talked Rousey asking her why is she such a failure. As Rousey started fighting back with Deville, Deville retreated up the ramp.
Moments later, Deville was re-watching her attack backstage with Adam Pearce. Pearce wasn’t happy that Deville continues to involve herself in the affair of the talent. As a result, he booked Sonya vs. Ronda for next week’s SmackDown.
