Tampa Bay Times stated that Hillsborough Circuit Judge Catherine Caitlin found that Thomas, “is a threat to the safety of the community and denied the defense’s motion to set bail.” He faces charges of aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, and attempted armed kidnapping.
The bail in question by Thomas’ representation was argued at $2 million and that authorities could keep track of him with an electronic monitoring device. To that the Judge had the following to say:
“I don’t see any way we can protect our community in Hillsborough County if we give him bail,” the judge said. “A GPS on him gives me no peace of mind. A GPS monitor does nothing for me.”
Berenato was present and testified against Thomas.
