AEW had several tapings today for upcoming Dark matches. From this, many women’s matches have taken place including the debut of a former NXT talent who was let go from WWE earlier this year.
Marina Shafir made her AEW debut in a match against Kris Statlander.
Shafir was released by WWE in June. Since her release, she has had several matches on the indie scene, most notably her win against Masha Slamovich at GCW’s Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7. Shafir’s last match with WWE was on 205 Live where she teamed Zoey Stark in a losing effort against Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon during the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. She was planned to be with the current Diamond Mine stable which includes her husband, the current Cruiserweight Champion, Roderick Strong prior to her release.
