This year’s STARDOM 5*STAR GP Tournament begins this weekend and does so in super style.
The opening night on July 31 features several stellar matchups to kick off the two-month tournament.
Night One at Yokohama Budokan sees tournament favourites Giulia, Mayu Iwatani, Momo Watanabe, Syuri, Saya Kamitani and Utami Hayashishita all in action.
Night Two on August 1st hosts another card of exhilarating bouts. Utami vs Saya Kamitani, Iwatani vs Giulia and Maika vs Syuri particularly standing out.
The winner of the tournament gets a shot a the title of their choosing. Last year’s winner Utami chose the World of STARDOM Championship and defeated Iwatani to capture the title. She heads into this year’s GP still as champion after multiple superb defences.
The twenty woman tournament is set into two blocks of ten, the Blue Stars and the Red Stars.

Takumi Iroha was a surprise entrant in this year’s competition. Iroha is signed to the Marvellous promotion but has wrestled for STARDOM in the past. In 2020 she had one of the matches of the year with Mayu Iwatani for the World of STARDOM title. Her participation in the tournament makes her a very strong favourite to win.
