Becky Lynch will make her second appearance in a row on Monday Night Raw, next week. Earlier today, WWE announced the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner was invited to Raw by none other than Stephanie McMahon.
The Man showed up on Raw last Monday to formally challenge Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. So, fans anticipated more appearances on the red brand leading up to “The Showcase of the Immortals.” Lynch even took to Twitter to say she was planning on coming anyway.
This marks Stephanie’s return to Monday night since the McMahons took over creative and management duties, back in November. It will be interesting to see what her motives are because she has been acting like a face, lately.
She could use this as an opportunity to taunt Rousey again, after their feud last year. This could also be another opportunity to play up the Stone Cold Steve Austin comparisons and give Becky an authority foil to play off. The two haven’t interacted since Lynch’s character change at Survivor Series.
On the other hand, Stephanie could be a part of the segment to act as a moderator because Rousey stumbled through her promo last week. The Phoenix crowd was still hot following Royal Rumble on Sunday, and they wouldn’t let her get a word in edgewise. So much so, that the loud boos and Becky chants clearly caught the former Bantamweight Champion off guard.
It was awkward to watch her freeze up, until Bayley came out to move the segment forward. Adding McMahon could be a way to shift heat on to her, in case the crowd is as distracting, on Monday. Stephanie is no stranger to heat and she has proven she is more than capable of working a crowd.
Why do you think Stephanie McMahon invited Becky Lynch back to Raw?
