If you missed the Jan. 31 episode of NXT then you missed the last stop before NXT”s Vengeance Day which takes place this Saturday on Feb. 4.
Before getting into what we are going to see at Vengeance Day, let’s talk about the two women’s matches we saw this week. First, we had Indi Hartwell taking on Zoey Stark. Both women (along with Roxanne Perez) participated in the Royal Rumble this past weekend. Hartwell and Stark had a verbal argument in the locker room basically having Stark gloat that she did better in the Rumble. This led to a match between the two.
Stark was able to pick up the victory over Hartwell with her Belly-to-Back GTS finisher to get the pin. Stark attacked Hartwell after the match which caused for Sol Ruca to come out and make the save. Ruca seems to have Hartwell’s back.
The other match of the week was the former NXT UK star Stevie Turner making her NXT in-ring debut against Dani Palmer. Turner has not been in action since June. The newcomer did all she could to try and spoil Truner’s debut but Turner caught her with a pump kick into a spike DDT. She finished off Palmer with a Side Effect for the pin.
Outside of the matches, we had a build-up for this weekend’s premium live event. First, we had a backstage interaction with the newly formed (and reluctant) team of Fallon Henley and Kiana James. They will be facing the tag champs of Kayden Carter & Katana Chance for the gold this Saturday. As Henley approached James, James was on the phone with someone named Zack who she said she would see him later and said she loves him. Henley started accusing James of breaking Brook Jensen’s heart but as they continue to argue the champs walk up.
Carter & Chance seem confident that their long-lasting friendship and tag team partnership will keep them as champions.
At Vengeance Day, Perez has her work cut out for her as she has to defend the gold against both members of Toxic Attraction in a Triple Threat. All three women had a backstage interview with Perez in a separate location from Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. It mainly consisted of Toxic Attraction mocking and belittling the champion. Perez would get up and leave the interview and show up where Toxic Attraction was as she launched a physical attack on them.
Other moment’s involving the women of NXT were –
Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre have seemingly joined together as a team.
We saw a breakdown of all the women who are possible suspects in the attack of Nikkita Lyons.
We also saw an interaction between Thea Hail and Ava Raine during the main event. There was a Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the men that had Raine jump up on the ring apron to help The Dyad. Hail would pull her down to avoid the distraction and it ended up that Chase U was victorious.
There was an advertised match between Cora Jade and Lyra Valkyria from last week. This match did not take place.
