Tonight at SummerSlam, Naomi defends the SmackDown Women’s Title against Natalya. Which Superstar will walk out as champion? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:
Abir: Naomi is just getting started with her reign, so I don’t see her losing. However, this will be a tough one for her. I predict that this will be a defining match for the woman, and may be one of the biggest highlights from the night. Carmella will tease a cash-in too, but she won’t come through in the end, and Naomi will still walk away as SmackDown Women’s champion.
Alex: If I’m predicting changes for the RAW and NXT Women’s Championships, then I feel SmackDown is probably going to be the match to play it safe. Natalya definitely deserves her chance, but their feud has been so underdeveloped and there’s so much more that should be done between these two. Natalya has put people over for years, but judging from Triple H’s latest comments then I feel that this is the plan here too. I’m really expecting big things for this match, so here’s to hoping that it gets a solid place on the card because it’s probably one of the lesser invested matched. Naomi countering the Sharpshooter into the Slayomission seems like the ending we’ll be seeing!
Josue: Naomi. She’s been sitting out of the past PPVs and needs a strong title defense, so I think this match with Natalya will be it. While I wish we would’ve got more from this feud leading up to SummerSlam, I’m confident both women will deliver here. Looking beyond the SummerSlam picture, Naomi needs this momentum if she’s going to move on to a feud with Tamina and her newly equipped partner Lana. This feud has also had a third factor: Carmella. Until Carmella cashes in her MITB briefcase, she’ll always be lurking in on the title of any PPV event no matter who or what the match-up is. Still I don’t think she’ll actually cash in here, I’m more to believe she’ll do it on an episode of SmackDown Live.
Matthew: Naomi wins but expect Carmella cashing in tonight.
BREAKDOWN: 4 for Naomi, 0 for Natalya.
