In the most recent episode of WrestleINC’s WINCLY podcast, current IMPACT Knockout’s Champion Taya Valkyrie spoke out about the possibility of her defending the title against men.
“Absolutely, I have no problems doing it,” Valkyrie said. “”If you look back at the history of the Triple A women’s title, it has also been put on the line against men in the past. So I don’t understand why the Knockouts Title couldn’t be doing that too.”
Valkyrie won the Knockout’s title back in January of this year at Homecoming, defeating Tessa Blanchard for the belt while IMPACT legend Gail Kim served as special guest referee.
She’s since defended it against Blanchard and Jordynne Grace, among others, but is open to defending it against members of the male roster too, including current IMPACT world champion Brian Cage.
“I have my own history with Mr. Brian Cage, the so-called Machine. So, I have absolutely no problem facing off against him. We have years of history and animosity against each other. I would absolutely love to face Mr. Brian Cage in a match,” Valkyrie said.
Valkyrie is no stranger to intergender wrestling herself, fighting against men in AAA and on Lucha Underground, including a match with Cage in season two.
IMPACT itself has become more open to intergender wrestling as of late, with Scarlett Bordeaux defeating Rohit Raju at a recent live special.
