Taya Valkyrie Wants More Attention For Women’s Tag Teams On The Indies

Taya Valkyrie is currently one-half of the Knockouts World Tag Team Champions as she holds the tag gold with Jessicka as two-thirds of the Death Dollz (also includes Rosemary). She also held the titles with just Rosemary previously as well as Rosemary and Havok holding the titles together as members of Decay. These three women have built a solid faction between them.

While speaking on Retro Chat Podcast, Valkyrie states she would like to see women’s tag team wrestling grow in the indies.

She states, “I’m just thrilled that IMPACT is building a strong female, women’s Knockouts tag team division. I feel there needs to be more attention to that on the indies. I definitely don’t see really established tag teams or as much tag teams as the guys. If we allow those women opportunities, we allow more women’s tag team matches to happen. I feel that will continue to grow. You look at established women like The Hex (Allysin Kay & Marti Belle), some of the tag teams in the NWA that have been doing work there, and stuff like that. We need to keep pushing, it’s obviously working, people are invested, and I am excited to be representing women’s Knockouts tag team gold” (Fightful)

The Death Dollz (Valkyrie & Rosemary) last defended their gold against makeshift team Deonna Purrazzo and Gisele Shaw on the Dec. 22 episode of IMPACT! After the loss by Purrazzo and Shaw, they agreed to never team again.

The next big event for IMPACT is Hard to Kill on Jan. 13. Currently there is no tag team title match booked for that event but that can always change.
