In a world where women can do anything, Tess Blanchard is just a step away from proving that statement. This week, Blanchard advanced in the Mash-Up Tournament which was a tag team tournament that would have the winning team face each other in a future match. That match will determine the number one contender for the Impact World Championship.
Blanchard teamed up with her recent rival Sami Callihan for this tournament. They first defeated Dave Crist and Trey Miguel to advance to the finals. It concluded in a four-way tag team elimination match. They won by last defeating Jake Crist and Wentz. She was the only Knockout in the tournament.
She will now face her rival Callihan once again to get a shot at the Impact World Championship. Brian Cage is the current champion and has held the title since April when he defeated Johnny Impact. Cage is a common competitor for intergender matches, so him facing Blanchard would not be out of the realm as a likely outcome.
Blanchard lost her main event match against Callihan at Slammiversary. It looks like she may be heading to another main event in her future where she may just be the first-ever Knockout to win the top male title in the company.
Her match against Callihan will occur on Aug. 2 at Unbreakable on IMPACTPlus.
