IMPACT Wrestling will make history once again when Tessa Blanchard defends the IMPACT World Championship against Taya Valkyrie.
The match is historic as it will be the first time ever that two women will compete for the IMPACT World Championship.
Tessa Blanchard made history when she became the first women to hold the IMPACT World Championship when she defeated Sami Callihan earlier this year at the Hard to Kill PPV.
The match came about after Taya attacked Tessa in her match against Ace Austin for the X-Division Championship. Taya’s interference meant that the match ended in a DQ, with Tessa taking the victory but Ace Austin retaining the X-Division Championship ending Tessa’s opportunity to become a double champion.
Blanchard and Valkyrie have been longtime rivals. In the summer of 2019, the two were embroiled in a bitter feud over the IMPACT Knockouts Championship and now their feud has transcended divisions and championships.
The match against Taya will be Tessa’s first defence of the IMPACT World Championship and another groundbreaking and history-making moment for both competitors and company.
