The Diva Dirt Writers’ Choice Awards 2011: Best Breakthrough, Feud, Heel, Babyface & Most Improved

Diva Dirt presents the first annual Writers’ Choice Awards, the awards that celebrate the year in women’s wrestling, as decided by the editors and contributors of Diva Dirt. The Diva Dirt team has watched hundreds of episode of wrestling television this year, as well as hundreds of live events on DVD, additionally, we’ve followed a countless number of wrestlers over the year, and reviewed tons of matches. Now, as we come to the end of 2011, we have picked the best of the best to be awarded our Writers’ Choice blue ribbons.

MOST IMPROVED WRESTLER
Brooke Tessmacher
Don’t let her assets fool you, because as hot as Brooke Tessmacher is, she’s come a long way in the ring too.

It could be so easy to dismiss Brooke as a “model” and “former Diva Search contestant”, and it’s highly likely that if she was still in WWE today, she’d face similar criticisms from fans as the likes of Kelly Kelly and co. receive today. However, Brooke has shown in Impact Wrestling that you can look like a model but still be recognized for your talent.

In the past year, we’ve watched Brooke’s development in the ring as she’s held her own against the likes of Mickie James, Sarita, Gail Kim and other veterans of the business.

Teaming up with Tara, another veteran, has given Brooke a partner who can guide her in the ring and teach her even more.

TNA’s use of Brooke, pitting her against veteran hands, has certainly helped her. Being in the ring with veterans gives her an opportunity to learn, and that’s a formula WWE could more widely adopt with its Divas.

We’re excited to see Brooke progress in 2012, as she can only get better in the ring.
