Stakes were high for the tag team division on tonight’s episode of RAW. The Riott Squad faced The IIconics yet again, however, this time with major stipulations. For the winning team, they earn the number one contenders spot for the Women’s Tag Titles. The losing team will have to be disbanded.
You’ve gotta be joking me! Right?!
Sadly, for Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, this was not a joke! The two who have been a team since stepping foot through the doors of WWE in 2015 are no more. Riott would score the pinfall by stacking up Kay to solidify the reward for her and Liv Morgan and the punishment for Royce and Kay.
When The IIconics returned from a hiatus in May, there was a glimpse of the two going their separate ways. After a disqualification from Royce during a Women’s Tag Team match against then-champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross, Kay wasn’t happy. In a backstage argument, Kay slapped Royce. After realizing what she had done, the two quickly hugged and made up. Since then the two have remained as solid as ever, but now it appears they will have to start their solo careers.
It has been previously rumored that Vince McMahon is high on Peyton Royce. He has been quoted as saying he enjoys her as a singles competitor.
The break-up of The IIconics is now just one less team in the already slim tag team division.
