The Rock’s daughter has “the wrestling bug” says Triple H

Second and third generation wrestlers come a dime a dozen in WWE, but it is somewhat rare to find a fourth generation superstar in this business. WWE may have found its fourth generation superstar in the form of The Rock’s daughter, Simone Johnson.

It was only last September when Zelina Vega confirmed on Lilian Garcia’s podcast – Chasing Glory – that the 17-year old prodigy has been training at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Vega made sure to mention that in a private conversation, Simone told Vega, “I knew I wanted to start wrestling for sure when I saw you at Raw doing the movie.”

Four months later, Triple H would sing of Simone’s professional wrestling aspirations during an NXT Takeover: Phoenix media call with Fightful. The 14-time World Champion had the following to say during the call:

“I know she has ‘the bug’ of the business. She caught the love of it from her father. If you were to ask The Rock, there’s nothing like that electricity, that connection he has with people. It all stems from his time in WWE. His love of that is evident. I think she sees that as well. It’s in her blood. If it’s something that she wants to pursue — I know that he is big, like I am, on continuing education and doing everything the right way. I know he believes it’s a wonderful business. I know he would be proud to have her be a part of (the business). Will you see more of her in the future? It would be hard not to see her in the future.”

Simone Johnson is still in high school and told The Hollywood Reporter that she has plans to study business in college before pursuing a wrestling career. Don’t be surprised if we see Simone Johnson squaring up for WWE’s women’s division a few years from now.

If Simone Johnson does continue to pursue wrestling after college, then she will be following in the footsteps of her great grandfather High Chief Peter Maivia, grandfather Rocky Johnson, and of course her People’s Champion of a father.
