On tonight’s RAW, there were three matches set up to determine three competitors for the upcoming Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Money in the Bank will be taking place on May 10. The women that have advanced are Asuka, Shayna Baszler, and Nia Jax.
The most competitive match of the three was the first one which saw Asuka defeat Ruby Riott. The match created a strong showing from both women, however, Asuka would lock in the Asuka Lock which caused Riott to tap out quickly.
The second match saw Sarah Logan take on Shayna Baszler. The quickest match of the three took a quick turn once Baszler viciously stomped on the arm of Logan. This caused the referee to immediately call for the bell as Logan could no longer continue as she cried in pain. Baszler would leave the ring and walk away in a rage. The ring announcer first declared Logan the winner, but that was corrected that Baszler won because Logan wasn’t able to continue the match.
Lastly, we saw Nia Jax, who returned last week, take on the other half of the Kabuki Warriors – Kairi Sane. Sane did what she could, but the power of Jax was too much for her. Jax would take out Sane with what they are calling the Annihilator, which was a Samoan Drop. Last week during Jax’s return match, she used the Rampaiger to defeat Deonna Purrazzo quickly. Commentary referred to it as just a DDT.
From the sounds of it, it may be just six women for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. If that is the case then it will be three from RAW and three from SmackDown. The three from RAW have been determined and the first woman for SmackDown will be determined on Friday as Dana Brooke takes on Naomi.
The women have been participating in this type of match since 2017 when Carmella became the first woman to hold the briefcase. Asuka, Baszler, and Jax have never participated in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
