The NWA World Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa recently spoke via Skype with the Straight Talk Wrestling podcast, hosted and produced by George McKay. Topics included her MMA run, her time with Lucha Underground, and the moment she defeated Allysin Kay for the aforementioned title.
Thunder Rosa was able to win the title at the Hard Times pay-per-view against Allysin Kay who held the championship for and impressive 272-days. She was asked by McKay about the feeling she had once the bell rang after she defeated Kay. The crowd chanting her name and everything, what did she feel at that moment?
“I wanted to cry so hard. So freaking hard because it was such a special moment. I was really upset, well I wasn’t upset, I was sad because my husband wasn’t there and it was a big, big, big moment for both of us. We have gone through hell and back in the last six years in this wrestling business together. Because I don’t think I would have ever been able to do something like this by myself.”
At the beginning of the interview, Rosa commented that she was just texting with Nikki Cross and congratulating her on her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship win. She explains that she goes way back with Cross and is super happy with all the success she has been having.
“I am actually texting Nikki Cross congratulating her on winning the championships. From everyone that I know from WWE, I know Nikki more than a lot of people. Every time I see her succeed or anytime I see her at the wrestling shop here in San Antonio it feels so good because she is such a good person. Her and her husband are great individuals. I am just nothing but happy. I wasn’t watching it. One of my best friends sent me a picture because she knows I know her and said, ‘Nikki just won,’ so yeah I just texted her.”
