SummerSlam is in the books. After three title defenses, including the Kick off show, all gold stays put. The Queen of all Eras Charlotte Flair came out the victor as she puts away the Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Let’s rank, from worst to best, the results of all four of SummerSlam women’s matches:
4. – Bayley defeats Ember Moon to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship
There was a lot missing from this match. The build-up was lacking the most, but even the in-ring action was lackadaisical. From what Ember Moon is capable of doing it creates a head-scratcher as to why technically this match missed the mark. Maybe the chemistry between Moon and Bayley just isn’t there?
Out of the 10-minute length of the match, there weren’t many talking points. Bayley does apply an inverted Boston crab which Moon was able to push out of. Towards the end, we have a hurricanrana from the turnbuckle from Moon until Bayley. Moon is able to hit a powerbomb into a codebreaker which many thought that was all she wrote and a new champion. Bayley kicks out. Bayley hits her Bayley to Belly from the top rope to put away Moon for the win and to retain.
The match did pick up some towards the end, but personally, it was on the losing end out of the women’s matches.
It will be interesting to see where Bayley and the SmackDown title goes from here.
3. – Becky Lynch defeats Natalya via the Dis-arm-Her to retain the RAW Women’s Championship – Submission Match
Slightly better than Bayley and Ember, but could have gone a little longer. Although the match was of a decent length, Nattie tapping out when she did seemed to be out of place. Regardless it was solid and got the job done.
Highlights include a Sharpshooter that was locked in on the turnbuckle by Natalya which was innovative. Shortly after Becky Lynch would apply the Sharpshooter on Nattie trying to have her tap out to her own move. Nattie would then return the favor and try to have the RAW Women’s Champion tap out to her own Dis-arm-her.
Unlike the prior submission match at Extreme Rules that featured Natalya and Charlotte Flair, this one didn’t feature various submissions. It kept to their two signatures.
Lynch is able to put Nattie away in the Dis-arm-her after escaping a Sharpshooter to end the match and retain her title.
2. – Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeat The IIconics to retain the Women’s Tag Team Titles
As mentioned earlier in the day, Bliss and Cross would have their first title defense against the former champs. The outcome was rather obvious since Bliss and Cross are already booked in a title match on RAW against The Kabuki Warriors. Regardless of that fact, this match was still very entertaining.
We saw Bliss cater to her baby face side and come out in Buzz Lightyear attire and even play up the character. The IIconics put on a good showing which makes it puzzling why it took them to lose the titles for WWE to want to showcase their in-ring skills.
In the end, Bliss and Cross would retain the same way they won the titles. Bliss used her right fist to knock out Peyton Royce and delivered a Twisted Bliss to pick up the win.
The match was the shorter of all the women’s matches, but it didn’t feel like it due to the competitive nature. This match should have probably been on the main card
1.- Charlotte Flair defeated Trish Stratus
This dream match for most was the best women’s match of the night. It was also the longest one of the night. Trish Stratus pulled out some new moves as well as some old moves from her arsenal.
For the better portion of the first half of the match, Charlotte did dominate. Early on, Stratus is able to counter a powerbomb which flings Flair to the floor. Flair capitalizes as she throws her opponent into the barricade.

Other highlights of the match include the spill that Stratus does from off the ring apron to the outside. She was able to get Flair into the Figure Four and bridged into the Figure Eight. Once Flair escapes she attempts for a spear but Stratus moves just in time.
Stratus pulls out Stratusfaction and a Chick Kick, but Flair still doesn’t stay down. Flair is then able to put Trish away with a Figure Eight as the Hall of Famer taps out.
After the match, it was nice to see Stratus soak in the crowd and take her bows.
