2. Mayu Iwatani vs Takumi Iroha – Stardom Goddesses Of Stardom Tag League 2020 – Day 4
Mayu Iwatani and Takumi Iroha put on two of the greatest matches of the entire year. Back in February Iroha defeated Iwatani in a breathtaking non-title bout and when Iroha returned to STARDOM on Oct 3 to challenge Iwatani for World title, fans were expecting big things from their second fight. The title match far exceeded the lofty expectations from their first battle due to the history between the two and the emotion and retribution that played out emphatically throughout this enthralling and highly-physical encounter.
In the first match, Iroha overpowered Iwatani and destroyed her with stiff and heavy strikes. Iroha employed the same technique but this time the champ was prepared for her onslaught. Iwatani’s incredible endurance matched Iroha’s power every step of the way while her wince-inducing slaps and kicks swayed the match in the in her favour.
It was an exceptional performance by both warriors and a masterclass in offence, selling and storytelling.
