Aja Perrera and Big Swole become the first African-American SHINE tag team champions

History was made at SHINE 61, which took place on Sep, 21. in Queens, N.Y. as the reigning Shine Tag Team Champions, Luscious Latasha and Gabby Gilbert awesomely named Rainbow Bright defended their titles against the team of Big Swole and Aja Perera w/ Ayla Fox also known as Triple Aye in a no disqualification, no count-out New York City Street Fight.

Rainbow Bright had held the tag belts for an impressive 243-days when they defeated Twisted Sisters in January. Rainbow Bright’s run at the top of the tag team division would come to an end when Triple Aye became the new Shine Tag Team Champions.

This win is now history-making for the organization. In the five years since the existence of the tag team championships, which started at SHINE 17 when Leva Bates and Mia Yim became the inaugural champs, we have the first African American team to become champions.

Big Swole took to Twitter to celebrate this momentous achievement.
