Number Four: Naomi Knight
In my opinion, the most athletically gifted woman to have ever graced a WWE ring. Watching her progress from FCW to the main roster has been a thing of beauty. She also means a lot to me in terms of representation.
There haven’t been too many women in WWE that are dark-skinned; we’ve had Jazz, Sasha, Alicia, and Cameron, but they’re all lighter-skinned. She was the first woman I saw since Jacqueline looked like me and that was huge.
All of that aside, her athleticism sold me. Called a spot monkey in the first few years of her tenure, she was able to combine her athleticism into great workmanship in the ring.
She has competed in one of my favourite all-time matches ever against AJ Lee in NXT, her matches with Paige in 2014 were outstanding, her heel turn in 2015 was EVERYTHING.
Her entrance and themes (let’s not talk about the rip off of Ernest The Cat Miller’s theme); iconic. Seeing her on Total Divas added another layer of likability to her. She was real, the voice of reason, and solid. She represented well for the city that is my second home, Orlando, and every time I see the clip of her paying respects to the people and my friend who was lost at Pulse, I get misty-eyed.
