Number Five: Trish Stratus
I literally grew up with her. I was 9 years old when she had her first match, and I was almost 16 when she retired. Of course, she kept coming back for more matches until her last match officially with Charlotte Flair this past summer.
I have been watching Trish for 2/3 of my life in a WWE ring. I’ve seen her movies (Bounty Hunters bangs, I don’t care what y’all say), bought her yoga DVD, and watched as she became a TV host, fitness guru, a brunette, Hall of Famer, and a mother. Her work in the ring and on the mic always kept me entertained. I would copy her MaTrish maneuver when I competed in team competitions with a crowd, I’d use her signature point.
My real love of Trish came in 2004 when she turned heel. I was constantly amused by her witty comments and irreverence. She showed she could do it as a face and heel and that being pretty didn’t mean you couldn’t be tough. Stratus became the model for which WWE’s women were seen and used for nearly a decade after her retirement.
