It has been made official, the NXT Women’s Championship will be defended in a Triple Threat. This will take place at the NXT TakeOver: In Your House event that is scheduled for June 7. It will be the first In Your House event since 1999. Leading up to this event there is no surprise that Charlotte Flair will be defending her title against both Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley.
In a quick glimpse of how this match came about, for Ripley it all started when she lost the title to Flair at WrestleMania. Then after weeks of absence, Ripley came back with a vengeance on not just The Queen but Shirai as well. Shirai was the last woman to face Flair in a title match and she ended up winning but only due to disqualification. After Flair attacked her from behind with a kendo stick the referee had no choice but to call the match. This is when Ripley made her return.
This past Wednesday Shirai and Ripley had a match of their own in the main event. The two put in a lot of work for one of them to be declared a winner, only to have Flair yet again cause a disqualification as she interjected herself in the match.
There are no disqualifications in a Triple Threat match, so will Flair be able to hold onto her gold, or will it return to the rightful owner to the woman known as The Nightmare? Or perhaps, will Shirai finally pick up her first gold within the company?
