After news broke of Trish’s impending retirement, many a wrestling fan anticipated that she would face Lita in her final match, and that’s exactly what she did. At the Unforgiven pay-per-view and in front of her hometown crowd in Toronto, Canada, Trish defeated Lita to win her record-breaking seventh Women’s Championship, retiring as champion. Utilizing fellow Canadian Bret Hart’s sharpshooter to win the match, Trish broke down in tears in the middle of the ring after the bell rang, but didn’t let that stop her from celebrating a phenomenal career. She and Lita put on a match that was rich with history and passion, and it stole the show that night.
