On this week’s SmackDown, Charlotte Flair lost a quick match to Ember Moon. Later in the night Flair was being interviewed backstage and she declared that she needs a match at SummerSlam.
Currently, Ember is facing Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Unless Flair will be inserted into that match she will not be going after the title. She spoke strong words stating that she is out to prove that she is the best female wrestler of all time.
Rumors are making their rounds that Flair will be facing Hall of Famer and seven-time Women’s Champion Trish Stratus.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, they have learned that a Hall of Famer will be facing a current roster star at the biggest event of the summer. SummerSlam will also be in Stratus’ hometown of Toronto which makes her attendance quite convenient. Flair has also changed her Twitter account name to “Queen of all Eras,” which is a strong sign that she is facing a legend.
It is also factual to note that Flair recently broke Stratus’ record of seven Women’s Championships. Stratus held this record for many years. Flair holds firmly at nine.
Of course, there are always other opponents Flair could be facing, but this option seems to be a strong possibility. Stratus’ last match was at Evolution where she teamed up with Lita to face Alicia Fox and Mickie James. Prior to that, she was in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match. She entered at number 30 where she was eliminated by Sasha Banks.
This would be the first time that Flair and Stratus would compete against each other.
