If you missed SmackDown this week then you didn’t miss much. There was a lack of women’s representation on the show with no match taking place. However, we did find out two more women who will be in the Royal Rumble match.
So far there were four women confirmed: Liv Morgan, Candice LeRae, Rhea Ripley, and Raquel Rodriguez. Shayna Baszler and Zelina Vega can be added to the field making it six women who have been announced. Baszler confirmed her spot in a backstage segment. She stated that she would rip her competition limb from limb before tossing them over the top rope. As for Vega, she declared her spot while on commentary during a Legado del Fantasma match.
A new Lacey Evans vignette aired giving her the Cobra Clutch submission.
There was a promo in the ring by the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Getting over with the crowd in her babyface role, she pumps up the crowd in a “you suck” chant for Sonya Deville. Flair tells Deville that she has always thought of her as a star but she doesn’t understand what Deville thinks she has that is more special than the other women in the locker room. After Deville calls Flair arrogant and entitled but Flair wonders if it is Deville who is the arrogant one.
Flair agrees to have a match right here and right now, but Deville declines. She says she would if the title was on the line. Adam Pearce came out to stop the discussion but that was a distraction to Flair. Deville hit a cheap shot from behind before making her way up the ramp.
Even though the Maximum Male Models lost their tag team match in the first round of the SmackDown Tag Team Title tournament, they still are convinced that 2023 will be a titillating year for them.
