Two NXT Superstars Given New Ring Names

It is being reported by PWInsider that two NXT 2.0 Superstars have been given new ring names.

Former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray will now be known as Alba Fyre. KLR came over to the US brand of NXT in 2021. She has had a couple of shots at the NXT Women’s Title against Mandy Rose since joining the brand and won the 2022 Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament with Io Shirai.

The other name change is Kacy Catanzaro. Catanzaro has been using her real name as her ring name since joining WWE in 2017. She will now be known as Katana Chance moving forward. She has been in a tag team with Kayden Carter for the past couple of years with the pair chasing the tag team gold on a few occasions.

Name changes have become more frequent throughout WWE. In a report that came out yesterday from the Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon doesn’t want new talent using their indie names or real names. Despite the report saying new talent, we have seen many of those who have been called up to the main roster all go through name changes including Raquel Gonzalez now going by the surname Rodriguez.

The new names for Catanzaro and Kay Lee Ray have not been confirmed yet by WWE.
