We could be seeing two women from NXT 2.0 returning shortly and they are former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Io Shirai and Zoey Stark are reportedly returning from injury. According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer, the duo is returning “relatively soon.” An exact timeline was not provided. It is unknown if they will be returning again as a tag team or if they will work solo.
Stark has been out of action since November and her last match was the Scareway to Hell Match at Halloween Havoc. In that match, she and Shirai lost the tag team belts to Toxic Attraction. She had a torn ACL/Meniscus which required surgery.
Shirai has been out of the ring and off NXT programming since Stand & Deliver, the weekend of WrestleMania 38 in April. Her injury is undisclosed and wasn’t officially confirmed. She faced off in a Fatal 4-way at that event for the NXT Women’s Title in which Mandy Rose retained.
The last update for Shirai was earlier this month from Fightful who confirmed her absence was due to injury but at that time there was no timeline on her return and she wasn’t factored into plans. She was listed as hopeful for a “summer return.”
As a team, the pair won the tag titles at The Great American Bash in 2021 by defeating The Way. This year’s The Great American Bash takes place on July 5.
