Unwrapped: Eye Candy for the Week Ending August 23rd, 2009

In order to consolidate our Eye Candy coverage, we’ve developed a brand new feature: Unwrapped! We’ll take all the new photoshoots from the week and grade (or “brand”) each based on the following criteria:

Appearance (hair, clothes, makeup.. you get the drift)
Poses (are they versatile or just glorified statues?)
Uniqueness (have we seen this photoshoot a billion times before?)
Grading scale: Sweet (Great)/Bland (Iffy)/Sour (Awful)

Gail Kim‘s Full Force Gail
Appearance: Gail’s wearing what looks like knee-high boots and a loose-fitting striped dress. I love stripes, so the dress is right up my alley. It’s rather simple and just hangs there, but on Gail’s tiny frame, it’s enough so that she doesn’t need to spice it up with anything else. In a few of the photos, she’s made cute makeshift pigtails in her hair, and in the rest just lets it hang loose. This is the definition of a simple look–a dress that catches your eye but doesn’t overwhelm, light makeup, relaxed hair, and no jewelry.
Poses: I really like the look, but the poses kind of let me down. They’re uninspired and lack that extra something to give this shoot some excitement. Show some personality, Gail! You’re not posing for a JC Penny catalog.
Uniqueness: Gail keeps it simple in a way few Divas do, and I like it. But aside from that, the shoot doesn’t really “pop”.
Grade: Bland. As much as I like the look, the poses drag the shoot down and make it much more dull than it should be. If she showed a bit more personality and excitement, this shoot would definitely be a sweet one.

Lilian Garcia‘s Lovely Lilian
Appearance: Lilian’s going all-out with her “rock” personality, wearing a black knitted dress, black boots, black gloves, and black nail polish, as well as a few heavy metals in the form of bracelets. It’s edgy without her looking like she mugged Avril Lavigne.
Poses: For someone who’s on her way out of the company, Lilian looks pretty damn happy. She’s smiley and fun with her poses, using a chair for some added flair. Where Gail lacks personality in her shoot, Lilian’s got it in spades.
Uniqueness: It’s fun and breezy instead of sultry and sexy, so in that respect it’s different from your usual Diva shoots. But it’s the same as usual from Lilian.
Grade: Sweet. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and she looks amazing. I’m starting to think I’ll really miss her when she’s gone.

Mickie James‘s Hey Mickie
Appearance: Mickie has a habit of not mixing up her in-ring wardrobe, so these tights aren’t exactly new to anyone, but it’s the first time I’ve gotten a close up look at them. I love the colors in them, and they’re a different combo than you’d usually see in Diva attire. The pants aren’t exactly flattering to her shape, but that’s not a problem exclusive to this outfit. Judging it on its own merits, I really like it. The hat’s a cute touch, sort of like Trish Stratus‘s old newsboy caps she would wear to the ring when she first turned face.
Poses: Mickie is WWE’s resident happy-go-lucky girl, we all know that, but she’s gone a lot more serious in this shoot. I like the different touch, even if she almost looks like a heel. The poses are limited, but these types of shoots are usually about showcasing the attire, and she’s doing that pretty well.
Uniqueness: Well, we usually don’t see such a stone-faced Mickie in photoshoots, so whether or not that was intentional, it’s certainly different and unique.
Grade: Sweet. I really like this attire, and the poses kind of intrigue me in their seriousness. Then again, most ring attire photoshoots interest me, so maybe this one was destined to be “sweet” no matter what.

Rosa Mendes‘s Red Hot Rosa
Appearance: A sultry black dress, sky-high heels, and gigantic hoops? Yep, she’s going all-out with the sexy on this one. The dress is tight, but not hoochy, and the heels are killer. I’m not going to comment on the hair (that’s Tiffany’s domain), but the ensemble works for me.
Poses: I’m getting a lot of snottiness out of these poses–sarcastic smirks, glares, and maybe al ittle bit of a stink-eye–so it’s a bit grating, but she uses her legs and arms to mix it up and distract me from the disgusted looks. Overall I like it, but what did I do to upset you, Rosa??
Grade: Sweet. The faces she pulls almost put me off the shoot (I know, I know..) but her outfit is so sexy and well put-together that I couldn’t resist but to brand it as “sweet”.

Tiffany‘s Lady in White
Appearance: Tiffany’s white dress almost looks like a men’s dress shirt with the sleeves cut off, which isn’t a bad thing–it adds a level of sexiness and casualness that that “wearing only a men’s shirt” thing does. The colorful belt keeps it feminine. Though, I can’t quite tell what’s going on with the black stuff–there’s some peeking out under the dress and it almost looks like she’s sprouted a tail–but it still looks pretty nice altogether. Gold heels kind of give the look a mis-matched feel, but don’t look tacky.
Poses: They seem to switch locales part of the way through, but I liked the harshness of the metal behind her. It added some drama to the shoot that what in turn sucked out when they switched to a plain white studio background. Her facials are cute, if a little “dead behind the eyes” at times. I think she’s definitely graduating beyond the “just look sexy” tactic.
Uniqueness: Well, they mixed up the locations, I guess..
Grade: Sweet. This is the cutest I’ve seen Tiffany look in a long time. In the white locale she looks cute and care-free, while in the backstage area she looks a bit grittier. She’s mixing it up and doing both pretty convincingly, I’d say.
