Unwrapped: Eye Candy for the Week Ending January 16th, 2010

Welcome to this week’s edition of Unwrapped! As always, we will be grading all of the new photoshoots (or “eye candy”, as we like to call them) from the week gone by, judging them like so:

Sweet (Great)Bland (Iffy)Sour (Awful)

You, the reader, will also get the chance to grade the “eye candy” yourself by giving your opinion on each shoot and voting for your favorite out of the whole bunch. Now, dive in!

Eve Torres‘s Winterlong
Grade: Sweet. I’m absolutely in love with the blue in Eve’s dress. It pops and suits her perfectly. The mini dress is given a cool mod feel by the thigh-high boots, and I like that that’s pretty much the extent of the look. With the eye-catching boots, trying to add much else would just overwhelm her. The gold accent on the dress is cool as well and adds some pizazz to the dress without overdoing it. Personally, I’d be fine with a plain blue dress, but I suppose in a WWE shoot there needs to be more excitement, and this gold design helps to do that. Eve’s poses are fun and sexy, a few of them evoking that mod feel that the boots bring. They bring fun to the photoshoot without looking cheesy and put-on, which really isn’t as easy as it sounds.

Rosa Mendes‘s The Black Rider
Grade: Bland. We know by now that Rosa is a fan of leather, cowboy boots, and the color black, so this shoot isn’t all that surprising or out-of-the-box. Still, Rosa has worn them better before. The vest just doesn’t look right–maybe if it were unzipped (for the whole shoot and not just one shot) or paired with a non-black dress it wouldn’t make the outfit look like one strangely-layered dress. The cowboy boots just don’t go with the look at all, though I’d wager that they wouldn’t go with much at all. I’m just not a fan of fancy-designed cowboy boots–cowboy boots can look costume-y anyways and I think they need to be in a more subtle color/design in order for them not to look silly and out of place. Here, Rosa’s boots look just that. Still, her poses are sexy as always, and almost sell the look to me. Almost.

Savannah‘s Bejeweled
Grade: Sweet. This is probably one of the most accessible looks I’ve seen in a Diva photoshoot. Savannah’s wearing a gorgeous purple top, black shorts, and mary jane heels, and looks so sweet doing so. The purple on her top is fantastic, and looks even more eye-catching paired with the black in the rest of her outfit, especially the cool black jeweled neckline on the top. I love her hair, too–the slightly messy half-ponytail is super sexy. Her poses are sooo much better than they have been lately, showing the personality and versatility that had previously eluded her. The poses are more cute than sexy, in my opinion, but I like it–sexiness can be so one-dimensional in a seas of sexpots like the WWE. Overall, I love that a Diva is wearing an outfit that any girl could wear any day of the week; it’s kind of endearing in an odd way.

Tiffany‘s Undercover
Grade: Sour. I mentioned this yesterday on the Krissy Vaine Project, but it looks like Tiffany went straight from a workout to the photoshoot, tossing on a coat for warmth. It’s just not a cohesive look, and the top and bottom kind of contradict themselves. The beads are a bit strange too, and it looks like Tiffany can’t really decide what to do with them. It’s just a shoot full of individual parts with different agenda and Tiffany doesn’t do much to sell it with her poses–some are good, but others just look a bit strange, like outtakes that somehow made it onto the site. On the bright side, though, I guess her missteps can serve as a lesson to teach every Diva–dressing like you’re at a gym in Alaska probably isn’t the smartest look for a photoshoot.

NOTE ON TNA PHOTOSHOOTS – I tend to only cover photoshoots with a decent amount of photos. So if TNA has a new shoot with Tara, but there’s only 3 photos, I’m going to skip it. No hard feelings. But if you see any new, sizable TNA shoots feel free to drop us a tweet and let us know–it’s tough to keep track of their new stuff!
