Unwrapped: Eye Candy for the Week Ending October 17th, 2009

In order to consolidate our Eye Candy coverage, we’ve developed a new feature: Unwrapped! We’ll take all the new photoshoots from the week and grade (or “brand”) each based on the following criteria:

Appearance (hair, clothes, makeup.. you get the drift)
Poses (are they versatile or just glorified statues?)
Uniqueness (have we seen this photoshoot a billion times before?)
Grading scale: Sweet (Great)/Bland (Iffy)/Sour (Awful)

Brie Bella‘s Hallway Holdup
Appearance: In head-to-toe black, Brie’s wearing a fitted dress and a loose, cardigan-like vest. I’m sure it would look a lot worse if they were in any other color, but in black it looks like one piece. Her headband this time isn’t so bad, and her cork heels are super sexy and in its neutral color go perfectly with all the black. Damn, they’re high.
Poses: It looks like she’s sitting around in a hallway in the arena, using the massive curved wall of windows for a cool, futuristic setting. The way the light reflects on the floor almost makes it look like she’s sitting on a body of ice. She looks calm and relaxed in a good compliment to her casual look. I’d lose the chairs, though–they just look awkward coming out of nowhere.
Uniqueness: I love this setting, and it’s unique in its almost pristine feel, as much of what we see from non-studio settings in photoshoots is relatively gritty.
Grade: Sweet. Brie channels her unique style into a pretty cool photoshoot, not allowing her love for hippy-ish style to weigh her down, as the peace sign and headband are still prevalent, but in understated ways.

Christy Hemme‘s Electric Blue
Appearance: Christy’s wearign a form of what’s become her in-ring signature: bikini top and a skirt or shorts in one solid color, this color being a pretty shade of blue. Absent however are shoes, which kind of irks me for some reason. I guess I just feel like the floor isn’t that clean, so going barefoot isn’t all that sexy. She’s got enough accessories to make up for them in weight, though, piling on the bangles, a shiny belt, and big hoop earrings.
Poses: It wouldn’t be Christy if there weren’t a few manic facial expressions, right? They’re here, along with a bizarre jumping shot and a few strange crouching poses. They just don’t look sexy to me, and for some reason give me a dirty Lindsay Lohan vibe, especially in the 2nd photo. I don’t mean to deliver such a cruel insult to Christy, but yikes..
Uniqueness: Nothing new here..
Grade: Sour. Maybe if she actually wore a complete outfit, it’d look like more than just a half-baked photoshoot.

Eve Torres‘s Swept Up
Appearance: Eve’s wearing her signature ring gear, covered in silver and bright shades of green and purple. It’s kind of 80s-like in its coloring, but I like it. She almost looks like the 80s’ idea of sexy futuristic clothing. The cut of it is unique too, giving her a different look amongst her fellow Divas.
Poses: Her hair is the focus, with a well-placed fan giving her that wind-swept look that’s sending her locks flying around. It’s a little distracting, but it gives the photoshoot a unique edge to it, making it more than her just posing in her tights. It almost appears to be in slow motion, with her simple poses complimenting that idea. Some of the shots may look awkward, but most of them look artistic, almost graceful, in how her hair takes flight.
Uniqueness: Like I said, the wind-swept look gives the shoot a unique edge, and if I recall correctly, this is one of the few times Eve has posed in her ring gear.
Grade: Sweet. Nice ring gear and artistic hair placement? What more could a Diva ask for?

Katie Lea‘s Tears for Fears
Appearance: It’s the requisite Katie Lea look–black all over, a sash around her waist, and dramatic makeup around her eyes. For some reason, even though we’ve seen this time after time, this look stands out. I think it’s the eye makeup. It looks demented but sexy, and is the best she’s done yet.
Poses: The poses are the best yet, too, with her adding to her “spooky” repertoire, wide eyes and hand motions making her look like she’s either ready to possess you or is possessed herself. Either way, mission accomplished.
Uniqueness: This is probably the 75th time Katie Lea’s done this style of photoshoot, but at least she’s refining it a bit.
Grade: Sweet. I think this is the first time I’ve given this type of Katie Lea shoot a “sweet” rating. I think it’s the eye makeup, because it was enough for me to actually take notice and get a fresh take on what’s become old hat for her.

Natalya‘s Family Ties
Appearance: Once again, Nattie’s in her Hart Dynasty gear, wearing her pink tights and jacket. I can’t really judge it properly, because I’m sure we’ve seen it many, mannnny times before.
Poses: Is it just me, or is Natalya getting progressively friendlier in her photoshoots? She’s all smiles here, which is quite nice, if strange given her heel nature. The poses on her stomach are especially cute.
Uniqueness: For Nattie, this is about as unique as a role in a romantic comedy for Jennifer Aniston. Point being, we’ve seen it a thousand times, and it almost never changes.
Grade: Bland. Judging it by its own merits it’s not bad at all, but when you add in the fact that this is the same old, same old, I can’t bring myself to get all that enthused about this photoshoot.

ODB‘s Going Up?
Appearance: The outfit’s pretty wacky in an ODB way. She’s got on a camo tank top (bra peeking out, of course), booty shorts, and… high heels? It just doesn’t fit together. It almost works in an ODB way, but I can’t excuse the major ~fashion crime~ she’s committed, even if it’s within her style.
Poses: ODB’s parked on a flight of stairs, which gives her the opportunity for a wide array of poses. She takes full advantage of that, laying on them, standing on them, showing us her butt on them.. She shows a lot of versatility here, and almost looks composed in a few. It definitely shows that there’s more to ODB than the flask-toting, ass smacking, Knockout we’ve come to know.
Uniqueness: Like I said, she shows a bit of a different side in her poses. While her outfit’s outrageous, she keeps some of her poses pretty reserved, which is pretty new for her.
Grade: Bland. I’d give this a “sweet” if she weren’t dressed so strangely. The poses and setting are great, but the craziness of the outfit kills it. You were close, ODB!!

Savannah‘s Laced Up
Appearance: Savannah almost looks like she’s wearing a slip, but the tight lace dress looks good enough on its own. Her metallic accessories keep the neutral tone. Still, I can’t help but think there’s something missing here..
Poses: The poses are pretty dull, without much diversity between them–just a lot of smiles and hip-touching. She just needs to show a bit more fire in her poses to prove that she’s got the charisma it takes to make a photoshoot interesting.
Uniqueness: It’s only her 2nd photoshoot, so we’re still in new territory, but this one’s pretty plain..
Grade: Bland. Bland’s a good word for this photoshoot–nice, but unremarkable.

Tara‘s Wrapped
Appearance: It’s been some time since I’ve seen Tara in a dress, but here she is, in a little black dress. What makes it interesting is the wrapping that goes from her abdomen to around her neck. They almost look like weird suspenders, but with Tara’s history of S&M-ish ring gear, this is within her style and look right on her. The thigh-high boots are sexy too, but narrowly escape making the whole outfit look like hooker gear.
Poses: Tara looks to be trying just a wee bit too hard in these, her faces and poses looking too deliberate and put-on. It’s just not natural. Maybe she’s more comfortable in her regular looks instead of sexier fare, but just because you wear a different look doesn’t mean you have to change your personality for it.
Uniqueness: It’s new and unique for her, posing in a short dress, and gasp–no Poison!
Grade: Bland. I’m all for Tara heading into new territory, but she could look a little more natural in doing so.

NOTE ON TNA PHOTOSHOOTS – I tend to only cover photoshoots with a decent amount of photos. So if TNA has a new shoot with Tara, but there’s only 3 photos, I’m going to skip it. No hard feelings. But if you see any new, sizable TNA shoots feel free to drop us a tweet and let us know–it’s tough to keep track of their new stuff!
