Sonya Deville has been thriving in an authority role on both SmackDown and RAW. Deville made her return to WWE to kick off the new year on the Jan. 1 episode of SmackDown.
Her absence from WWE programming started at SummerSlam in August when she lost in a Loser Leave WWE match against Mandy Rose. She was hitting her stride just as she had to take time away from the company.
Since Deville’s return, she has been in charge of many decisions across the main roster. These decisions have included helping out Charlotte Flair get reinstated in a storyline and she has been the driving force for building this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
So when will Sonya return to the ring?
According to a report from Fightful Select, she could be headed back to compete in the squared circle very soon. WWE sources have told Fightful that Deville is expected to return to the ring soon as long as everything goes according to plan and this is at least the indication given to creative.
Deville has been training for an in-ring return, which hasn’t been kept a secret, however, she has maintained in interviews that she is content with her current authoritative role. Those within WWE that Fightful has spoken to have had a glowing review of Sonya and how she has handled the last year and the way she has worked in her current role.
There has been a significant push to have her involved in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. And at least at one point, she was penciled in for the match.
There is one spot left for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match after Deville herself declared today that Natalya will take the seventh spot. The eighth and last spot has had fans hoping for it to be either Deville or possibly a returning Sasha Bank.
