As previously reported, Tara‘s TNA release was due to cost-cutting measures. Now, more news has been revealed about Tara’s contract.
PWInsider reports that Tara, real name Lisa Marie Varon, was “far and away the highest paid female wrestler on the roster”, and a decision was made to release her as she wasn’t being used on TV.
Today, TNA Executive Producer Eric Bischoff tweeted his thoughts about the departure of the former Knockout’s Champion:
Best of luck and much respect for Marie Varon (Tara). Marie is a positive, talented, powerful performer that I will miss. Kick ass girl!

Varon joined TNA back in May 2009 and went on to win five Knockouts Championships, a company record she holds with Angelina Love.
She also had one reign as half of the Knockouts Tag Team Champions as part of TnT with Brooke Tessmacher.
In recent times, Tara has been working at her Chicago based restaurant, The Squared Circle, which was opened in March 2013.
