Updated brackets for the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament

AEW showcased four women’s matches for the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament tonight on YouTube. The matches that were included were the two semi-finals matches for the Japan side of the brackets and the last two first-round matches for the U.S. side.

Below are the results of the advancements:

Nyla Rose defeated Tay Conti

After a good fight from Tay Conti she wasn’t able to put the Native Beast away. Conti had Nyla Rose pinned for way longer than the count of three but the referee was distracted by the turnbuckle pad as it was recently exposed. By the time the official started her count, Rose was able to kick out.

Rose then launched Conti over the top ropes onto the stage and delivered a Death Valley Driver. Conti shockingly kicked out of a pin attempt once they were back in the ring. Rose would then follow up with a Beast Bomb which put away her opponent and the three count for the win.

Rose advances to the semi-finals where she will be facing Britt Baker who won her match later in the night.

Britt Baker defeated Madi Wrenkowski

This match was originally supposed to be Britt Baker vs. Anna Jay. Anna Jay, however, was removed due to injury that was reported earlier today.

Baker was able to pull out a win to advance. In the final moments of the match, Wrenkowski went up top to deliver a diving cross body. She misses and Baker takes advantage. After slamming her to the mat, Baker goes for the three count but Wrenkowski kicked out. Baker then quickly applied the Lock Jaw where she causes her opponent to tap out.

After the match, Baker sent a message to Thunder Rosa through her attack on Wrenkowski.

Yuka Sakazaki defeated Emi Sakura

Yuka Sakazaki came out with an impressive victory over Emi Sakura in their semi-final bout. As the match progresses to its final moments, Sakazaki and Sakura trade blows. Elbow strikes from Sakazaki and chops across the chest from Sakura.

Sakura was able to lock in enough of a submission in the corner with Sakazaki just inches away from the ropes. Sakazaki refues to admit any defeat and eventually grabs the middle rope to break the hold. After a failed attempt to put Sakazaki away, she countered and was able to get a crucifix pin on Sakura to advance.

After the match, Sakura attacked the winner to which the AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida came to the aide of Sakazaki. Sakazaki will go on to face Ryo Mizunami in the Final round for the Japan side of the brackets.

Ryo Mizunami defeated Aja Kong

In what can only be described as an upset, Ryo Mizunami defeated the veteran Aja Kong. As the match approaches its end, Mizunmai delivers a spear to Kong and positions her to deliver a huge leg drop from the turnbuckle. Kong kicked out at two.

Kong then goes on the offense as the action spills to the outside. She takes a trash can in one hand an Mizunami in the other and drags her opponent up to a table where Shida was sitting. She hands the trashcan to Shida and then drives Mizunami into it. The referee was making the count for them to get back in the ring.

As they head back to the ring, Mizunami was able to hit a leg drop on Kong on the apron and get herself back in the ring to win via count out.

As already mentioned above, Mizunami will be facing Sakazaki in the Japan finals of the bracket.

The semi-finals for the U.S. side of the brackets will be Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose and Thunder Rosa vs. Riho. The winners of those matches will go onto the Finals for the U.S. The winner of both finals will face off to see who will face Shida at Revolution on March 7 for the AEW Women’s World Title.

On Sunday we will also see a six-woman tag match. Shida will team up with Mei Suruga and Rin Kadokura to face Emi Sakura, Veny, and Maki Itoh. This will air on Bleacher Report.

What did you think of the matches tonight? Who do you see advancing further and who do you think will face Shida at Revolution? Leave your thoughts below.
