This week’s AEW Dynamite saw a surprising challenge from Vickie Guerrero.
She was granted the opportunity by Tony Khan to book a match. She has chosen to have herself and Nyla Rose take on the AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker and Rebel. This match will take place on June 30 when Dynamite finally gets to return to its normal night of Wednesday.
The challenge was made in a backstage segment as Baker with Rebel by her side was being interviewed. Nyla has been a hot topic lately as she is now at the top of the women’s rankings and she ruined the champions celebration a few weeks ago. Guerrero interrupted before the interview could start and said she won’t be happy until the title is around her client’s waist.
The reason why Guerrero has the power to book the upcoming match is because she brought Andrade El Idolo to AEW and Khan owes her. After Guerrero made the announcement and walked away, Baker and Rebel laughed it off.
It is important to note that prior to this backstage segment, Andrade had a sit-down interview with Jim Ross. At the end of that interview, he let everyone know that he and Vickie have a surprise. What could that surprise be and will that play a factor in this upcoming tag team match?
As for the women’s match that took place on Dynamite, Julia Hart took on Penelope Ford. Hart was looking to get her third win in a row but she ran into someone who was going to stop that thought. Ford picked up the win by submission and even after the bell refused to let go of the hold. Finally, as the Varisty Blonds came in to help Hart, Ford released.
Out came the TNT Champion Miro. He commented on Ford’s husband, Kip Sabian, being out of action due to injury and it isn’t fair for her to be out there in a three-to-one odds. Miro took out Griff Garrison first and then focused on Brian Pillman Jr. Ford stood on the stage before heading to the back as the men brawled.
Another promo aired for Jade Cargill as she and her manager Mark Sterling talk about the Jade brand. Also that she is undefeated and this will continue because of course, she is “that bitch.”
