Brie and Nikki Bella were the latest WWE stars to join former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman on ESPN’s Off the Top Rope segment, talking about Total Divas, their relationships, the Diva Revolution and more.
Brie said it is a blessing to have a husband who understands her career and “speaks the language”. She said Daniel Bryan is like her personal coach and helps her grow in the ring. Nikki compared her relationship with Brie to a “32-year marriage”, admitting that they get sick of each other, which makes it nice to have John Cena on the road as well.
The Bellas also talked about their experience being in Paris during last year’s terror attacks. Nikki explained that they were in the city for their grandmother’s birthday and were a mile away from the cafe shooting. She credited John Cena with pulling strings to get them on a flight out of Paris the next day and said she’s never been more afraid in her life.
When asked about their favorite part of WWE stardom, both Brie and Nikki expressed how much they valued being role models. Nikki also talked about the importance of being relatable, citing her struggle to stay in shape and resist junk food cravings.
On the ongoing Diva Revolution, Nikki said both she and Brie are extremely proud to be part of the changing division, crediting every Diva, past and present, with getting them to where they are today. She also gave credit to Total Divas for raising the profile of the Divas division.
