Wendy Choo Wins Lights Out Main Event; InDex Briefly Reunites

NXT 2.0 was a bit chaotic this week as members of NXT UK have arrived in preparation for Worlds Collide. Separate from that, there were two women’s matches on the card and as always various other interactions from the women’s roster.

The first match had Indi Hartwell take on the newly arrived Blair Davenport from NXT UK. This would be Davenport’s debut match in NXT 2.0 and it would work in her favor in many ways. First, she would defeat Hartwell and then stake her claim as the number one contender.

From this, the NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura would debut on the NXT 2.0 brand. A Triple Threat Unification Title match is set between Davenport, Satomura, and the NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose on Sept. 4 at Worlds Collide. More on that can be found here.

Hartwell did not leave the ringside area after her battle with Davenport and she took a seat on the apron to speak her sorrows. She talks about how she was going to reignite her career after becoming a singles competitor but she is in the same spot she was four months ago. She would then be reunited with her on-screen husband for the first time since his rehire – Dexter Lumis. InDex embraced in the ring but once backstage, Lumis left a letter for Hartwell after he gave her a kiss goodbye before being “arrested.”

The main event was the highly anticipated match between Wendy Choo and Tiffany Stratton. The match was a Lights Out match and the match was anything goes. Various weapons were used throughout the match including a pillowcase full of legos that were dumped out in the ring by Choo.

Stratton utilizes items in her purse which benefited her earlier in the match but in the late moments, makeup powder that was meant to go into Choo’s wounded up in Strattons. Choo follows up by putting Stratton through a bed frame.

Choo delivers a Vader splash off of the top rope and scores a pinfall. Stratton won their first two encounters by it would be Choo who gets the last laugh and will be able to go to sleep soundly tonight.

Other women on the show included Lash Legend and Fallon Henley brawling during the men’s tag team bout and a backstage segment with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter & Katana Chance with Wes Lee. The champs say they are ready for any challengers.

Promos also aired for Cora Jade and Alba Fyre while Elektra Lopez seemingly is heading to the main roster. With Santos Escobar losing his match last week against Tony D’Angelo he has to leave NXT. He told the rest of Legado del Fantasma that they are family and would all leave together.
