Round One, Match Five
In the fifth match of the tournament, the classic Miss Elizabeth/“Macho Man” Randy Savage take on the devilish Trish Stratus/Christian.
Considered by most to be wrestling’s First Couple, the pairing of Miss Elizabeth and “Macho Man” Randy Savage first came to be in 1985. The two had their fair share of ups and downs, breaking up only to reunite in spectacular fashion at WrestleMania VII. They were married on live television in only the third – and probably best – wedding in wrestling history. After all, it was dubbed the “match made in heaven” for a reason.
Trish Stratus and Christian, like any good heel couple, came to be through deception. Trish led Chris Jericho on, making him believe she was on his side in his feud with Christian. This was not to be, though, as she turned on him on the biggest stage of them all: WrestleMania. She sided with Christian, capping off the moment with an intense kiss. From that point forward, the couple was infamous.
