Every hour until the clock strikes midnight (Eastern time) and we usher in 2015, Diva Dirt will highlight – in no particular order – the women who made an impact in 2014.
Havok
Havoc leaves carnage in its wake.
Jessicka Havok lived up to her name in 2014, blazing a trail through the indies and TNA that was left littered with bodies. In the first half of the year, before she joined TNA and dropped the “Jessicka”, she was busy busting heads in the independent scene, as she’s done for years.
In SHINE, her war with Allysin Kay was waged over five matches: a No DQ match, a Ybor City Street Fight, an epic 10-Woman Tag Team Elimination match, a Last Man Standing match and, lastly, a Dog Collar and Chain match. These two delivered enough pain to each other to last a lifetime, only stopping when TNA called, Havok moving on after finally, satisfyingly, defeating Allysin by driving her through a table with an Air Raid Crash.
Only an opportunity as big as TNA could end that feud, and so it did. Before she could get there, though, she made appearances at SHIMMER, WSU, Queens of Combat and CZW, to name a few.
When the time came for her TNA debut, she did not disappoint. After weeks of video packages hyping her debut, she made her first appearance stalking to the ring following a knock-down, drag-out match between Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell. She made short work of them, planting them with her signature chokeslam and Air Raid Crash before placing their bodies in a heap and posing over them, letting TNA fans know just what they were in store for: carnage.
It wouldn’t be long before Havok would claim the Knockouts Title, beating down the resilient Gail Kim until it was too much to bear. Havok would go on to defend the title in the main event of Impact, again beating the fight out of Gail.
TNA also paved the way for her Japanese debut at Bound For Glory, where she retained the Knockouts Title against Velvet Sky.
She wouldn’t leave 2014 with the belt, though, losing it in a Match of the Year candidate: a Triple Threat match with Gail and Taryn that saw Taryn get the win and become the Knockouts Champion for the first time in her career.
Technically, Havok may not be unstoppable. In a way, though, she’s the boss at the end of a good video game: you can beat her, but only after spending hours failing, figuring out the best way to take her down. And, if that doesn’t work, there’s always cheating. Allysin Kay will tell you all about how that plan ends.
Come back at the top of every hour to see who else has been crowned one of 2014’s Women of the Year.
