Women of the Year 2015: Heidi Lovelace

Every hour until the clock strikes midnight (Eastern time) and we usher in 2016, Diva Dirt will highlight – in no particular order – the women who made an impact in 2015.

Heidi Lovelace

Heidi Lovelace may be affectionately known as the Punk Rock Ragdoll, but did you also know that she was a part of the villainous Oedo-Tai faction for STARDOM in Japan?

What about that she received a SHIMMER Championship opportunity against Nicole Matthews? And formed a duo dubbed Team Slap Happy with New Zealander Evie, and became number one contenders for the SHIMMER Tag Team Championships? Or that she and Solo Darling came THIIIIIIIIS close to snaring the SHINE Tag Team Championships?

Are you aware of her shocking victory over Athena to become AIW Women’s Champion in Athena’s final match for the company, mere moments after Athena had already defeated challenger Candice LeRae?

Did you know about her striking resemblance to masked badass Sally Stitches in Freelance Wrestling?

You name it, in 2015, Heidi has probably done it. From continued defences of her Young Lions Cup in CHIKARA (in December, she and Kimber Lee became the top two singles title holders in the company when Lee became CHIKARA Grand Champion) to becoming part of ROH’s Women of Honor to a plethora of impressive hard-hitting intergender matches, Heidi Lovelace has proved time and time again just why she deserves to be called one of the top talents on the independent wrestling scene today.

Her charismatic personality coupled with her never-say-die attitude and effective offense means that it shouldn’t be long before we see this young lady on a grander scale.

Come back at the top of every hour to see who else has been crowned 2015’s WOTY.
