Every hour until the clock strikes midnight (Eastern time) and we usher in 2016, Diva Dirt will highlight – in no particular order – the women who made an impact in 2015.
Team B.A.D. (Naomi, Sasha Banks & Tamina Snuka)
The year for the Divas on the main roster was all about alliances. From Freaks and Geeks to Team Bella to Team PCB, the Divas this year proved that there are strength in numbers. One of the most entertaining has been the tandem of Team B.A.D. In many ways, this faction more than the others from the year have benefited each member equally.
Naomi‘s career has been plagued with her being one of the best workers in the division, but never getting the chance to shine. She finally got to use that potential in the most shocking of ways. After losing a Battle Royal, she turned heel on Raw by attacking and taking out then-face Paige. Over the course of the next few weeks, her promos would set the table for a heated confrontation with the Divas Champion Nikki Bella. Many fans welcomed the change and the character had new life with the addition of…
Tamina, who returned after a year off from a knee injury to help Naomi attack the Bellas on Raw, establishing the two as “family” and a new team in the division. Before she left, Tamina served a role as a bodyguard to AJ Lee, but this time around Tamina was treated more like an equal. She’s been given mic time, and is has a golden comedic timing segments. The two would face the Bellas in a losing effort at Payback. Naomi and Tamina would have other title matches but would come up short.
In the summer, Raw was rocked by the debut of NXT Divas Charlotte and Becky Lynch on the main roster, forming Team PCB to fight Team Bella. Not ones to not get involved, Tamina and Naomi staked their claims to dominate the Divas division when Stephanie McMahon revealed that a woman with similar ideas wanted to join them. Cue Sasha Banks.
The three would form Team B.A.D. (Beautiful and Dangerous) and would establish themselves as the female equivalent to the New Day with their antics and backstage skits. SummerSlam saw the three fight in a Thrree-Team Elimination match in a losing effort. Since then, they have not been in the main spotlight, but have had a mini feud with Natalya on SmackDown. The fall and winter have been focused on establishing Sasha Banks via her streak and Naomi and Tamina helping her win matches via any tactic possible.
Through it all, one fact remains: Sasha Banks has yet to be defeated one-on-one on the main roster. Guess that’s the power of being B.A.D.!
