Women of the Year 2015: The Dollhouse

Every hour until the clock strikes midnight (Eastern time) and we usher in 2016, Diva Dirt will highlight – in no particular order – the women who made an impact in 2015.

The Dollhouse (Taryn Terrell, Jade, Marti Bell & Rebel)

According to these four women, 2015 meant one thing: playtime.

The Dollhouse, a faction lead by Knockouts Champion Taryn Terrell, flanked by Jade and Marti Bell and later joined by Rebel, sought to control the Knockouts division through dirty tricks, mind games and a healthy dose of creepiness. For much of the year, they did just that.

The Dollhouse began assembling with the TNA debuts of Jade and Marti Bell, which were met with much enthusiasm from Knockouts fans. Jade, known as Mia Yim on the indies, had a long list of accomplishments and an even longer list of standout matches to her name. Marti was accomplished as well, but her jump to TNA was her biggest get yet, giving her a shot at prime time.

The two debuted on the special TKO: A Night of Knockouts edition of Impact following a series of cryptic video packages, and they didn’t waste any time leaving an impression on the audience. When the referee attempted to eject Marti from ringside during Jade’s match with Cherry Bomb, she simply attacked him, forfeiting the match for Jade. Jade didn’t mind, though, and they happily beat down Cherry before stuffing a jawbreaker in the mouth. They weren’t done there, either, pummeling ring announcer Christy Hemme and forcing a jawbreaker into her mouth too. Clearly, these two weren’t your typical mean girls.

Later that night, The Dollhouse completed construction when Jade and Marti helped Taryn retain the Knockouts Title against Awesome Kong in a No DQ match. With their aid, Taryn was able to powerbomb Kong through a table and pin her for the unexpected win. After her victory, Taryn was transformed, taking the microphone and cutting a demented promo that announced the arrival of The Dollhouse. Needless to say, it was the kind of first impression that would stick.

The Dollhouse would face plenty of opposition, with pretty much everyone who had an eye on Taryn’s Knockouts Title gunning for them. They thwarted Brooke, Awesome Kong and Gail Kim in turn, making the ultimate statement against Gail. After Taryn set the stage by targeting Gail’s private life and worming her way into her head, The Dollhouse took her down physically, Taryn defeating her in a Six Sides of Steel match and then brutally breaking her wedding ring finger. This would put Gail on the shelf for months and free The Dollhouse to wreak havoc on other Knockouts.

Unfortunately, the months that followed weren’t as successful for The Dollhouse. Karma seemed to work its magic on the evil trio when they lost a Three-on-Two Tag Team match to Awesome Kong and Brooke at Slammiversary. Shortly after that, Taryn suffered the biggest loss of all, dropping the Knockouts Title to Brooke when Gail exacted her revenge, returning from her injury to take out Jade and Marti and allow Brooke to pick up the huge win.

Things started to fall apart at that point. Jade and Marti lost two consecutive Handicap matches to Gail, and Taryn suffered a hand injury of her own at the hands of Gail and Velvet Sky. Still, they worked to improve their odds, bringing on Rebel as their newest member. With Taryn on the sidelines, Jade, Marti and Rebel feuded with TNA’s original Knockout trio, The Beautiful People, trading momentum until the feud fizzled in September.

The future of The Dollhouse is uncertain, but all members remain signed to TNA. What form The Dollhouse will take is anyone’s guess, but unless any of them have undergone a change of heart, we’re likely to enjoy at least some playtime in 2016.

Come back at the top of every hour to see who else has been crowned 2015’s WOTY.
