The Women’s Tag Team Champions Carmella & Queen Zelina have one more team to have to battle come April 3 on Night Two of WrestleMania 38. The team of Natalya and Shayna Baszler have been added to the bout making it a Fatal 4-Way.
Already in the match to take on Carmella & Zelina are Boss ‘n Glow (Sasha Banks & Naomi) as well as Liv for Brutality (Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan). Ripley & Morgan earned their spot in the match after defeating the champs in a non-title match on the March 7 episode of Raw. Natalya and Baszler were added after they impressed Sonya Deville with their ruthless attack during the tag team match on tonight’s SmackDown.
With Zelina & Carmella at ringside scouting their competition, Banks & Naomi took on Ripley & Morgan. The great familiarity of Banks & Naomi from their time as a team in the past was showcased tonight. They nearly won the match after a sequence with Banks and Ripley.
Ripley delivered a missile dropkick to Banks who kicked out. She followed up by trying to put an end to Banks with Riptide, however, The Boss countered into a backstabber. Banks tagged in Naomi and delivered a splash before Naomi executed the split-legged moonsault. Morgan saved the match for her team and broke up the near fall.
The battle between the two teams came down to a Tower of Doom which would leave all four competitors down and laid out in the ring. Shayna Baszler and Natalya would enter the ring causing the disqualification and received some help from the champions in beating up all four women.
Moments later, Baszler and Natalya ran into Sonya Deville who was impressed with what they did and said some of them even deserved what happened to them. In turn, she added the pair to the WrestleMania Women’s Tag Team Championship Match now making it a Fatal 4-Way. Baszler and Natalya have worked in the past months to help Deville with her rivalry with Naomi.
In a WWE Exclusive, Ripley and Morgan were given the news of Baszler and Natalya being added to the title match.
This week’s SmackDown ended much like last week with the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair leaving her WrestleMania opponent, Ronda Rousey, riving in pain. Last week, Flair and Rousey brawled in a parking lot with the champion getting the better of the exchange.
Flair called Rousey out this week to finish what she started in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Flair had a kendo stick in hand when Rousey entered the ring. Rousey went right for the armbar but Flair escaped before tossing the champion into the ring post. Flair went for a kick but Rousey caught her and applied an ankle lock. Flair grabbed a kendo stick and utilized it to neutralize Rousey before putting her through the announce table with a powerbomb.
