It has been announced on tonight’s SmackDown that the Women’s Tag Team Championships will be defended on Sunday at Elimination Chamber. The champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler will be facing the challengers of Bianca Belair & SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks.
For the second week in a row, the tag champs showed up on the blue brand. This time they were the guests of Bayley‘s Ding Dong, Hello! segment. Reginald first interrupted Bayley’s show by saying that Jax and Baszler shouldn’t be talking bad about Banks. This interaction led to a six-person tag team match of Bayley, Nia Jax, and Shayna Baszler taking on Banks, Belair, and Reginald.
This match ended with Reginald pinning one-half of the tag champs – Nia Jax. Banks and Belair drop kicked the back of Reginald who was in the grips of Jax which caused him to fall down on top of her to get the three count. Jax attempted to kick out but she didn’t beat the count of three.
Reginald appears to be on thin ice later on in the night as Carmella witnessed her sommelier becoming quite the cheerleader for her recent rival Sasha Banks. Carmella stressed that she knows Reginald will end up doing the right thing after he tries to convince her that it isn’t what it looks like.
As for the other match for SmackDown this week, Natalya and Tamina defeated The Riott Squad. Billie Kay became the reason why Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott lost yet again as she came to the ring in support of Natalya and Tamina by wearing cat ears and a “nobody is meaner than Tamina” shirt. This distraction caused a near fall for Nattie who then tried to lock in the Sharpshooter. Moments later Tamina put away Riott with a sidewalk slam.
Kay tried to celebrate the victory with the winning team but they made it clear that they don’t want to add a third person to their team. Natalya shoved Kay into Tamina who then laid her out on the mat.
In a WWE Exclusive, Natalya and Tamina seem to be gelling quite well as a tag team as they cut a big promo saying that they are ready to show a whole new side of themselves.
Lastly, Sonya Deville cut an intriguing promo. She says she has been thinking of the upcoming events such as Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. This has made her want the best from both the women’s and men’s locker rooms. She wants to see someone with burning passion and someone who needs to be there. Someone who stands tall despite any controversy and one who isn’t second best to anybody. Who may this end up being?
In regards to the Tag Team Title match for this Sunday keep in mind that there will be a championship match on March 3 where Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez will be the challengers. Naomi & Lana were also said to be number one contenders after a win several weeks ago to earn their opportunity.
