Update: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross retain their titles. The match was a solid showing for The IIconics but they were unable to regain the gold. Bliss picks up the pin for her team as she hits a punch followed by Twisted Bliss. This is how she won the title for her team on RAW last week.
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are set to defend their titles against The Kabuki Warriors on RAW this Monday,. WWE has now announced that they will have to get through the former champions first. It has just been announced that The IIconics will have a chance to regain their gold at SummerSlam’s Kickoff show.
It was originally rumored that the Fatal 4-way elimination match from last week was supposed to happen at SummerSlam instead. This led to most people thinking that the titles wouldn’t even be involved in the biggest event of the summer. After all, the titles haven’t been used on a pay-per-view for months.
The IIconics regaining the titles at this point wouldn’t be logical. Of course, they could always scrap the match on RAW if The IIconics were to become the first-ever two-time champs. Weirder things have happened.
This match makes a total of four women’s matches on the SummerSlam card.
Check out SummerSlam’s Kickoff show that starts at 5 p.m. ET and the main show to start at 7 p.m. ET.
