Worst WWE Women’s Championship Reigns

Not every title reign can be stellar. Over the course of many decades, we’ve had many great champions-Trish, Lita, Ivory, Victoria, Beth, Melina, Molly and Jazz…but we have had some duds. Who are they? Let’s find out!

Debra McMichael, May 10-June 8, 1999.

I still do this day have no idea why WWE thought to put the belt on a non-wrestler after taking it off a non-wrestler. She couldn’t bump, she didn’t say much on the mic, and her big move was showing her puppies after stripping off her business suit. For those unfamiliar with the story of Debra’s reign, she won the WWE Women’s Title from Sable in an Evening Gown Match. Even though she lost the match, then-WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels declared that the woman who had her gown taken off was the winner. Debra only had one defence, wherein she lost to WWE Hall of Famer, and my favourite female wrestler, Ivory.

Jillian Hall, October 12, 2009.

This one hurts. Jillian was a very talented wrestler, she had a gimmick that was over, and she could speak well. Did that matter? No. She won the Diva’s Title from Mickie James, and less than 5 minutes later, she’s fed to Melina. She deserved better.

The Kat, December 9, 1999-January 31, 2000.

This reign was the low point of the WWE Women’s Title and the division. Sable may not have been a wrestler, but she wrestled. Debra mercifully lost it after one defence. Then, we come to The Kat. She won the title over a credible and competent champion in Ivory, and trained wrestler and former champion Jacqueline in a Four Corner Evening Gown Match…in a pool. Then she flashed her breasts to the crowd. The Kat’s reign was marked with gimmick matches; a pudding match against Tori, and a “Snowbunny Lumberjill Match”, where she lost her title…to a man.
