Over the next few days, in the lead up to this Sunday’s big WrestleMania 26 event, we’ll be taking a look back at some of the memorable moments in WrestleMania history that involved the WWE Divas. Each of the Diva Dirt team have picked a moment that they loved to share with you all. Today, it’s Cryssi’s WrestleMania rewind.
Cryssi: My favorite Wrestlemania moment didn’t exactly take place during Mania. I justify picking this because it’s probably the greatest Wrestlemania commercial in the history of Wrestlemania commercials. For Wrestlemania 21 in Los Angeles, the WWE dedicated an entire marketing campaign based around hit movies and blockbusters. The superstars and divas got to show off their acting chops and re-enact scenes from movies with their own little twists on things. As great as the Stacy Keibler “Basic Instinct” parody was, the “When Harry Met Sally” parody starring Kurt Angle and Christy Hemme was the stuff legends are made of. Not only did each of them get into character, but they went above and beyond the call of duty if you know what I mean. Christy was hilarious and if that woman ever decided to do a comedy movie, I would be the first in line to see it. The fact each of them appeared to get so, erm excited, over what Angle was going to do at Wrestlemania is so funny to me and the faces of everyone in the diner are just priceless. When all is said and done, and both calm down, Christy calmly asks Kurt if he can pass the salt. Amazing. But as crazy as the whole promo is, it’s the cameo at the end that seals the deal and truly makes this the best commercial in ‘Mania history. The camera cuts over to a calm, stoic Linda McMahon who is staring at Christy and Kurt’s table with an amused expression on her face. Then she delivers the best line that’s ever come out of her mouth; “I’ll have what she’s having.” Who knew the classy, sometimes uptight Linda McMahon could be so amazing? Maybe it’s her deadpan delivery. Maybe it’s just because she’s Linda McMahon. But out of every diva Wrestlemania moment this is the one that never ceases to make me smile no matter what type of mood I’m in. Do you think Angle and Christy ever pass each other in catering over in TNA and just smile because of how epic their Wrestlemania commercial was? Love it.
