This Sunday at WrestleMania 31, Brie and Nikki Bella team up to take on AJ Lee and Paige.
All week leading up to the big night, we’re revisiting the most memorable women’s wrestling moments in WrestleMania’s 31 year history, tackling a total of 25 WrestleManias.
WrestleMania 22
April 2nd, 2006
At the twenty-second WrestleMania, Divas competed in no less than three matches. First, Candice Michelle‘s Playboy-boosted ego and betrayal of Torrie Wilson led to a showdown between the two in a Playboy Pillow Fight. The Divas wore evening gowns and wrestled around a giant bed, all culminating in a rollup pin that earned Torrie the victory.
Later, Sharmell teamed with her husband Booker T to take on the gruesome Boogeyman. Understandably, Sharmell avoided much of the action, but when the Boogeyman, mouth full of worms, planted a kiss on her, she had enough, fleeing the ring. This left Booker to lose the match handedly.
Lita also made her presence felt, joining Edge for his Hardcore match against Mick Foley. She got involved a number of times, most notably lighting a table on fire for Edge to spear Foley into. This risk paid off, allowing Edge to pin Foley for the win.
Lastly, the unbalanced Mickie James took on the former object of her affection: Trish Stratus. Trish put her Women’s Title on the line and struggled to overcome Mickie’s mind games, eventually falling prey to a Chick Kick. Mickie would pin Trish and claim her very first Women’s Championship.
